Hey there, I’m John. 👋🏼 I’m a UX/Product Designer based in Chicago building accessible, scalable, and user-driven solutions.
Currently building a FinTech web application and leading my company’s Generative AI strategy while finishing my master’s degree at Northwestern.
Appreciate you taking the extra step to get to know me! Here are some quick blurbs of information about me:
-
I have 4+ years of experience and a year of experience as a UX Manager. I specialize in creating user-centered products that enhance lives, currently leading my company’s generative AI strategy and designing a FinTech platform for financial reporting. Moving around the world multiple times as a child and my background in Theatre and Neuroscience led me to have a strong empathy-driven approach that I bring to all the work I do. I have a lot of pride in the work I do, love building communities at work, and helping to solve problems.
-
My approach to design is that you need to live in the problem space as long as you can. Trying to solve problems without a clear understanding of the problem itself will lead you to less exciting results.
I follow the Design Thinking approach because it is user-centered and offers a bias-free way to problem-solving. It involves five key stages:
Empathize: understand users’ needs through research.
Define: define a clear problem statement to help with ideation.
Ideate: brainstorm ideas, test concepts, and have fun exploring.
Prototype: bring your ideas to life through prototypes.
Test: test your prototypes with users, stakeholders, and engineers to gather feedback and refine the product.
This iterative process ensures innovative solutions that truly meet user needs, driving meaningful, impactful design.
-
Beyond design, I’m passionate about theatre, writing, photography, and video production. I’ve written and produced original plays, co-founded a video production company, and am currently working on a novel. You can often find me wearing a sweater, drinking an extra cup of coffee, and talking about hockey, American football, or local breweries.

ActiveDisclosure
I led a team of 4 designers to deliver designs for 13 workstreams and 100+ engineers, both internally and for external vendors. We built a financial document editor, similar to Microsoft Word, to upload your documentation, review/edit it, and file it all in one place.
Tools: Figma, Miro, Lucid, and Azure (ADO).
Voyager
For this project, I managed the full process of this case study from UX Research to Visual Design. I worked hand in hand with engineers, stakeholders, and product managers to create an immigration platform focused on providing the most transparent experience possible for all users. I created the MVP designs and ensured each user type was accounted for from Attorneys to individuals seeking sponsorship.
Tools: AdobeXD, Figma, Miro, Coda, and the Google Suite.
Motor Werks Perks
For this product, I managed the Visual Design and Information Architecture design process. I worked hand in hand with engineers, stakeholders, and product managers to create an application that can track the rewards you get as you purchase cars and perform maintenance on them. The app was made for iOS and Android and is currently in both stores ready for download.
Tools: AdobeXD, Figma, and the Google Suite.
duet.
This was my capstone project for my bootcamp. I created a dating app that utilizes your taste in music as a large compatibility factor for finding matches. The goal is to find someone who shares similar interests to you who you can share your playlists with.
Tools: AdobeXD, Figma, Procreate, and Photoshop.
